Hematologist and Junior Assistant Professor

Katia Mancuso is a Junior Assistant Professor in Hematology at the Institute of Hematology “L. and A. Seràgnoli”, IRCCS Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Bologna. She graduated with honors and special mention in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna in 2012, completed his residency in Hematology in 2017, and earned his PhD in Oncology, Hematology, and Experimental Pathology in 2021, all with top marks.
Her clinical and research activity is primarily focused on multiple myeloma, with particular interest in the identification of prognostic factors, biomarkers of therapeutic response, clonal evolution, and the development of innovative and personalized treatment strategies. She has served as a co-investigator in over 100 clinical trials (phases I–IV) involving novel agents for hematologic malignancies.
She is the co-author of more than 170 scientific publications, including 58 peer-reviewed articles and 112 congress abstracts. She has been an invited speaker at over 60 national and international conferences and is also a contributing author to hematology textbooks. Since 2022, she has been a faculty member of the European Myeloma Network (EMN)-sponsored Master’s program in “Management of Myeloma”.
Dr. Katia Mancuso is actively involved in medical education and clinical training, supervising medical students and thesis projects at the University of Bologna. She also serves as a peer reviewer for international journals and was a reviewer for the 2024 Hybrid Congress of the European Hematology Association (EHA) in the area of myeloma and monoclonal gammopathies.
She is a member of the Italian Society of Hematology (SIE) and the European Hematology Association (EHA).
