Dr. Efebera is the Medical Director of Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy at OhioHealth. Prior to joining OhioHealth, she was Professor at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. She completed medical school at Pennsylvania State University, Internal Medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, hematology/oncology at Boston University and Blood and Marrow Transplantation training at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Efebera's research are in Multiple Myeloma, Amyloidosis, Blood and marrow Transplant(BMT), graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). She is the principal investigator of many clinical trials. She collaborates with many other researchers in the US and abroad on many clinical trials in Multiple Myeloma, Amyloidosis and BMT. She was the director of the comprehensive amyloidosis Clinic, the first in Ohio and one of few in the country, and the director for careers in Internal medicine for the medical school at Ohio State University. At OhioHealth, she has developed the amyloid and myeloma program to the highest level with high level clinical trials.
Dr. Efebera is internationally recognized for her work in multiple myeloma and Blood and marrow transplant. She was a member of the NCCN Guideline committee for multiple myeloma, amyloidosis and Waldenstrom; She sits on many committees and subcommittees including the Alliance multiple myeloma committee; the Blood and marrow clinical trials network (BMT/CTN) committees; American Society of Hematology (ASH); and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). She is Co-Chair of the Center for blood and marrow transplant research (CIBMTR) plasma cell disorder working group; and Chair of the International Development Education Award (IDEA) program sponsored by ASCO. She is on several adjudication committees for ongoing studies in multiple myeloma and amyloidosis, and GVHD. She has moderated sessions in national and international forums and meetings, has published many manuscripts in her field and reviews for many medical journals.
