Simin Ahmadvand, MSc, PhD Candidate, is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology (BMI), Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Ottawa. She investigates the potential of immunotherapeutic strategies for multiple myeloma, with a focus on BCMA-targeted CAR-NK cells and bispecific killer engagers (BiKEs) to enhance anti-myeloma immune responses. During her Master’s studies in Medical Immunology, she developed a deep interest in tumor immunology, particularly tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and immune evasion mechanisms. She also gained extensive experience in histology and imaging, which sparked her lasting appreciation for the visual beauty of tissue and cellular architecture. Her research interests include NK cell biology, NK-based immunotherapies, imaging, histology, and single-cell RNA sequencing of the tumor microenvironment.
