Prashant Kapoor, MD, FACP, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia Working Group at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. Upon completion of his Hematology and Oncology fellowship training in 2012 at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, he was invited to join the Division of Hematology as faculty. His research is focused on evaluating novel agents in plasma cell disorders. He is the principal investigator of several investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials. He has served on the Mayo Clinic Institutional Review Board and is currently a member of the Mayo Clinic Data Safety Monitoring Committee. He is a recipient of several awards, including the Kurtz Myeloma Research Fellowship, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Merit Award, Department of Medicine Career Development Award, Research Innovation Award, Transplant Center Scholar Award and the Department of Medicine Faculty Scholar Award.
He is a passionate educator and has presented his work at national, international and patient forums. He has served on the Editorial Board of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Daily News and as the Co-Site Editor for Myeloma Section of JNCCN 360. He is the Myeloma Section Editor of Current Hematologic Malignancy Reports. He has over 350 peer-reviewed publications in journals, including The Lancet, JAMA Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, The Lancet Oncology, Blood and The Lancet Haematology. He is a fellow at the American College of Physicians, and an active member of the International Myeloma Working Group, ASH, ASCO, International Myeloma Society and also serves as the Myeloma Clinician Consultant for the Multiple Myeloma Reseacrh Foundation (MMRF).
