My name is Marta Chesi and I am an Associate Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic, Arizona. In collaboration with Leif Bergsagel I have defined the recurrent genomic abnormalities affecting patients with multiple myeloma, which are used worldwide for patient’s stratification.
I have also generated an orthotopic, immunocompetent, clinically predictive genetically engineered mouse model of myeloma sensitive to IMiDs and CELMoDs, Vk*MYC-hCRBN, which has been extensively used as a platform for testing the role of oncogenic mutations in myeloma progression, to inform drug development and to optimize anti-myeloma immunotherapy.
My current research focuses on the therapeutic optimization of T cell engagers (CAR-T and bispecific antibodies), with the goal of overcome tumor instrinsic and extrinsic mechanisms of primary and acquired resistance.
