Professor dr Jelena Bila is the Head of the Department for Multiple Myeloma at the Hematology Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Serbia (UCCS), and the Chair of the national study group for multiple myeloma, Serbian Myeloma Group (SMG).
The professional work of Professor Bila Jelena, was marked by a one-year training at the University of Heidelberg in 2004, in the team of Prof. dr Hartmut Goldschmidt, which resulted in a doctoral dissertation in the field of multiple myeloma and the introduction of the concept of high-dose chemotherapy and autologous transplantation as a routine form of treatment for this disease in the Clinic of Hematology, University Clinical Center of Serbia. Today, being the Head of the Department for Multiple Myeloma at the UCCS Hematology Clinic, Professor Bila is the Associate Director for Internal Medicine, and the Chair of the UCCS Ethical Committee.
Since 2017, as a founding member, regionally recognized by her work in the field of the plasma cell disorders, Dr Bila is elected Secretary of the Balkan Myeloma Study Group (BMSG), which is chaired by Professor Meletios A. Dimopoulos. Participating in scientific projects of the European Myeloma Network (EMN), since 2024. Prof dr Jelena Bila has been an elected member of the Specialized Working Group for multiple myeloma at the European Hematology Association (EHA SWG).
Professor Bila is the author and co-author of over 250 papers and publications in prestigious international journals, with a cumulative impact factor above 300 and a Hirsch citation index of 15. She is the Head of the Department for Specialist Studies in Medical Oncology at the Medical Faculty, University of Belgrade.
