Sophie Carlson, MD is a Hematology/Oncology Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She earned her undergraduate degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec where she also conducted breast cancer research in Dr. Morag Park's lab at the Morris Goodman Cancer Research Center. Following graduation, she spent three years at the National Institutes of Health, contributing to translational research projects in head and neck cancer in the lab of Dr. Carter Van Waes. Dr. Carlson received her medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and completed her internal medicine residency at UCLA. Her academic interests lie in malignant hematology, with a strong focus on clinical research and the development of novel therapies. Driven by a commitment to both patient care and scientific advancement, Dr. Carlson aims to build a career at the intersection of academic medicine and innovative research. Her long-term goal is to improve outcomes for patients with hematologic malignancies by integrating compassionate care with evidence-based, cutting edge treatment strategies.
