Associate Professor
Levine Cancer institute/Atrium Health
Cindy Varga is an Associate Professor in the division of Hematology/Oncology at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute, where she leads a multifaceted research program that bridges clinical care and scientific innovation for patients with plasma cell disorders. Her work spans both clinical and translational research, with a focus on multiple myelma and related conditions.
Dr. Varga's translational research centers on molecular and proteomic profiling to uncover mechanisms of disease progression. She has conducted transcriptional profiling studies on renal tissue from patients with AL amyloidosis and has applied advanced mass spectrometry techniques to study proteomic signatures in monoclona gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), smoldeing myeloma and active myeloma.
On the clinical side, Dr. Varga serves as principal investigator on a broad portfolio of early and later phase clinical trials. These studies aim to evaluate novel interventions and optimize therapeutic strategies to improve outcomes for patients with multiple myeloma. In addition, she collaborates extensively through multi-instritutional consodtiums to conduct retrospective analyses of cellular therapies, with a particular emphasis on understanding real-world outcomes and patient selection.
Dr. Varga's integrated approach-combining cutting edge lab research with patient-focused clinical trials-reflects her commitment to advancing precision medicine in hematologic malignancies.
