Martin Kortüm, MD, Univ.-Prof. is a Professor of Medicine at the University Hospital of Würzburg, Germany, with a specialization in plasma cell disorders. He completed his medical education at the Universities of Besançon, Würzburg, and Basel, followed by advanced clinical training in hematology and oncology. He holds board certifications in internal medicine as well as hematology and oncology.
Supported by a fellowship from the German Research Foundation (DFG), Professor Kortüm conducted a four-year postdoctoral research program at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, USA. He currently holds the endowed Chair of Translational Multiple Myeloma Research at Würzburg University Hospital. His research activities include directing major translational projects focused on overcoming proteasome inhibitor resistance in multiple myeloma.
Professor Kortüm is the first author of the Onkopedia guideline for multiple myeloma, published by the German Society of Hematology. He serves on the Steering Committee of the German Multiple Myeloma Study Group (DSMM). His work is dedicated to advancing both research and patient care in plasma cell neoplasms, with a strong focus on therapeutic resistance and the clonal evolution of multiple myeloma.
